Nothing Out of Reach {Heuristic Baby Play}

Hello all Ashlee from Loving Naturally here again and today we are touching on the topic of Heuristic. When I first heard this word I had do idea as to what it meant and how to implement it into our lives BUT little did I know every single day Little A is exploring Heuristic play and I'm sure you might be doing things in your home without knowing that link into this topic.

It may sound a little different, but Heuristic is derived from a Greek word that means "to discover," Heuristics is a rule or a method that comes from an experience and helps you think through things, like the process of elimination, or the process of trial and error.

This month Little A turn the big ONE and through all the excitement looking back at how she has been learning and developing this topic ties in so well to how she learns and develops from chasing her older sister around and trying to copy her, exploring the kitchen cupboards and hiding holes throughout the house and the way she interacts with our two fur babies and the growing bond she is developing with them.

She is learning that she can play chasey with her puppies, understanding when they have had enough and to leave them alone, which I find a great skill to learn at a young age as so many people have many different types of pets and being gentle and kind is an amazing skill to learn.

Keeping our house open allows little A to find household items and turn them into a new learning experience. Our favourite at the moment is a basket of paper rolls to be used in many ways with little A discovering her voice at the moment this normally evolves into a singing game.

Later in the afternoon while I'm cooking dinner becomes family band time with our cooking utensils that aren't being used turned into music sticks or along with some empty Milo tins the rocking really starts to flow with some rhythm discovery and dancing this is a sure way to keep everyone entertained and happy in the crazy time of day allowing you a little extra time to get dinner on the table.

Have something you do around the house to keep your munchkins entertained?  I'd love to see, by simply uploading to Facebook or Instagram and go into the draw to win an amazing gift for you and your little one.

Please always supervise your infant/child at play.  Please stay within arms reach and never leave infants/children unattended.  You know you're infant/child best, use your own judgement-considering your infant/child's temperament, habits, behaviour and development before you play with a new play medium.
